As most of my readers know, I published a book this year, titled Understanding an Atheist: A Practical Guide to Relating to Nonbelievers. I wrote the book not to be showered with riches (any author would be crazy to think that’s going to happen), but instead, I wrote the book to help atheists who confront conflict within their circle of family and friends. The book is intended for the religious who have trouble accepting their nonreligious loved ones, whether internally or with outward conflict. It answers a lot of questions the religious might have for nonbelievers but were afraid to ask or feel uncomfortable bringing up. It’s intended to be a conversation starter — the first step in improving or repairing relationships that have been damaged because of religious differences.
Since my intent is to help my fellow atheists repair relationships, especially this time of the year, I’m extending an offer. If you have a religious loved one who would benefit from reading Understanding an Atheist in preparation for spending the holidays with an atheist, I’d like to send him/her a free copy of the book, along with a letter from me. The letter will explain why it’s being sent and who requested it be sent. This is your opportunity to take the first step in overcoming the religious impasse between you and your theist family members.
In order to take advantage of this offer, please send me an email at DividedUG@gmail.com with “UAA Holidays” as the subject. Please include the recipient’s name and mailing address (US only please) as well as a message explaining your relationship with that person, why you want to send the book, and if you’re willing, an example of what kind of conflict you’ve experiences with him/her as part of your atheist/theist conflict.
All submissions need to be received by 12/15/14 in order to be prepared and shipped in time for Christmas. I will also be sharing some of the stories on dividedundergod.com in the future, but all privacy will be protected.
This is my holiday gift to my loyal readers, and to those of you who could use a little help during the holidays from someone who’s been there. Please share this offer with anyone you think might be interested, and have a great holiday!
