Catholic Church Tells Flock Voting for Clinton is a Mortal Sin Deserving of Hell

According to NBC San Diego, a local Catholic Church has been handing out fliers inserted in their bulletins warning churchgoers that voting Democratic will result in eternal punishment in hell.  The insert calls Hillary Clinton satanic and purports that voting for her is a mortal sin — a sin as serious as rape or murder according to the Catholic Church.

In the flier, the church details Democratic stances on several issues and concludes that a vote for a Democratic candidate equals complicity in such matters, and is deserving of eternal punishment.

Wow. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling inspired by the love of Jesus.

When asked about the fliers, Immaculate Conception pastor Father Richard Perozich said, “The fact that somebody took this and then made it public took it out of context.”  Isn’t “out of context” always the defense when people say something stupid?  Sorry, but this is not out of context. It’s a typed flier that was handed out to parishioners. We have the FULL context.

It’s well-known that involvement in political matters by a church can jeopardize their tax-exempt status, and this case is certainly one to be looked at by the IRS. Unfortunately, I doubt anything will be done about it, as there have been widely reported incidents of politicking from the pulpit, especially in recent years, that get ignored by authorities.  It’s sadly very rare for a church to lose its status due to its involvement in politics.  Alas, we battle on.

  1. “It’s sadly very rare for a church to lose its status due to its involvement in politics. ”

Rare? I’d say it’s more rare than Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. Seriously, is there one example of a church losing it’s tax exemption due to politicking? I have never heard of one.

    1. Have they EVER taken tax-exempt status away from a church for being involved in politics? Just askin’. Or is this just Poe’s law because this is meant to be comedy? 🙂

      1. Scientology lost its exemption.

The U.S. needs an amendment in its Constitution like Mexico has.

No politician can say anything about religion. No church can ever discuss politics. Religions cannot own property in Mexico.

No religion can be heard outside of its building without a permit.

Until recently the governor of each state said how many priests are allowed in the state.

Nothing but science can be taught in schools. No religion can be taught in schools at all, ever.

There is more but this would be a start.

“By the year 1854, The Church gained possession of about two-thirds of all the lands of Mexico, almost every bank, and every large business. The rest of the country was mortgaged to the Church. Then came the revolution of 1854, led by Benito Juárez. It culminated in the Constitution of 1857, which secularised the schools and confiscated Church property. All the churches were nationalised, many of them were turned into schools, hospitals, and orphan asylums. Civil marriages were obligatory. Pope Pius IX immediately issued a mandate against the Constitution, and called upon all Catholics of Mexico to disobey it. Ever since then, the clergy has been fighting to regain its lost temporal power and wealth. (The Necessity of Atheism, p. 154)[9]”
