Rick Santorum Shows Us Again How Historically Illiterate He Is

On Monday, a conference call with Rick Santorum was released via YouTube by STAND, a right-wing conservative organization run by E.W. Jackson, a Virginia minister who has of course dabbled in politics.  STAND is an acronym for “Staying True to America’s National Destiny,” which is quite obviously all Jackson could come up with after already picking the name STAND.  And I’m sure he thinks it’s catchy as hell.  Besides, you know they mean business when they actually hyphenate “between” as “be-tween” on their website. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

But I digress… In the conference call recording, Santorum is back on his stump, criticizing our “communist” President, and goes on to proclaim that the separation of church and state is nowhere in the US Constitution.  He furthers his “point” to say that church/state separation is a communist ideal and existed in the constitution of the former Soviet Union, because you know, correlation equals causation.  The logical fallacies are strong in this one.

But let’s go with his hypothesis that separation of church and state is a communist ideal and fits in no other society, including ours.  If we go by that logic, then I’ll suggest to Santorum that religion within government is a Muslim ideal, since most, if not all, theocracies in the world are in Muslim nations.  Your move, Ricky.

Anyone who learned US history from outside the walls of a church, or outside Texas, knows that our Founding Fathers, namely Jefferson and Madison, were very adamant that church and state remain separate in the Unites States.  I need not expand on that statement to the DividedUnderGod audience.

  1. Can you imagine living in a world where Rick Santorum got to make the rules? It’s too horrifying to contemplate. Anyone running for president of the United States should have a sufficient grasp of history to realize the U.S. Constitution predated communism by the better part of a century.
